Miles Franklin provides a quality learning environment. Our students learn to be confident, resilient, risk takers and life long learners.
To achieve this purpose we provide education that is child centred, promoting the whole development of each child. The goal of Miles Franklin is to provide an excellent education, which assists students to develop their talents and capacities. A dedicated team of teachers work very hard to help students achieve high standards of learning and to develop self-confidence, optimism, high self esteem and respect. Strong partnerships with parents and carers are valued so that student needs can be met in the best possible ways.
Learning frameworks support and guide student learning within the areas of literacy and numeracy, with other learning areas such as Science, Technology and Health/PE taught in a connected, holistic manner. The preferred mode for delivery of learning programs is multi-age classes recognising that children do not possess the same level of skill, maturity and development at the same chronological age.
The school, with nearly 70% of its enrolment from outside its priority enrolment area, attracts students from over 20 different suburbs. The student community includes ESL, Indigenous, Special Needs, Gifted and Talented and Learning Assisted children.
The school's motto of "Achieving Educational Excellence in a Caring Environment' is further articulated through four school value statements developed through consultation with the whole school community.
