Canteen & Uniform Shop

Canteen and Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop Order Form, Stock List, and Kindy order forms are all available on the MFPS DropBox. The Year 6 Shirt order form is handed out to Year 5s in late term 3 or first week of term 4.  Orders are placed with the supplier in late October for hopeful delivery when school returns in Term 1.

The Canteen

Canteen Operation:

The Canteen is operated by paid Canteen Employees and Volunteer Parents with assistance from the P&C. The Canteen is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm during school term and provides over the counter service for lunch (11.00 – 11.45am) and recess (1.00 – 1.30pm).

Preschool lunch orders:

We offer a preschool menu for our Mon -Fri preschool class/es, however the over the counter sales at recess and lunch are not available as children are not able to leave the preschool playground. Orders are placed with the Canteen on Flexischools and cut off is 8.30am and delivered to the classroom for 1pm lunch.

Food Policy and Menu:

A copy of our menu is available in the MFPS dropbox. The Canteen offers a wide variety of healthy food according to the National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines and our food rated using the traffic light colour system. (If you would like more information on these guidelines please talk to the Canteen or email mfpcanteen@gmail.com)

GREEN: Healthy foods that can be consumed regularly and promote a balanced diet.
AMBER: Foods that should be ordered sparingly as they are higher in fat, sugar and/or salt.
RED: Confectionary foods that should be an occasional treat.

We aim to keep our menu as green as possible to provide a healthy school lunch and recess service. We aim to please our children and assist busy families by providing nutritious and appealing food at an affordable price.

Placing an order with the Canteen:

Flexischools - We highly recommend using Flexischools online ordering, our preferred method for lunch or recess ordering. It is quick and easy to register and use. You no longer need to worry about writing out orders on paper bags or have cash to send to school. You can set up advanced ordering and re-occuring ordering to take the stress out of doing lunches daily. All orders must be placed in flexischools before 8.30am on the day for recess and lunch.

FlexiSchools is well established and tested, operating in hundreds of schools across Australia. Getting online is easy and only takes a second to register. Simply go to www.flexischools.com.au and click "Register". Once registered, you can start placing orders immediately. If you have any questions, FlexiSchools provide a great help desk on 1300 361 769, or you can contact them via their website.
There are a variety of payment options supported, including Visa, Mastercard (credit and debit), Bank Transfer and Paypal. The system operates via a pre-paid account. Flexischools also provides many benefits to the Canteen as it reduces the manual process of tallying orders and counting money.

Manual Cash Orders- Are accepted on days when Flexischools is not operating or your internet at home is not working.  Please send your child in with cash to the canteen before 8.45am and we will organise their order.

Special Requests:

There are some menu items that can be amended to suit individual tastes. Please discuss any issues with the Canteen Manager.

Food Allergies:

In the case of food allergies and intolerances parents need to inform the Canteen Manager and provide details of any such condition your child may have. A photo and description is required from parents at the commencement of each year for this purpose. The canteen is NUT free due to severe allergies of some of our students and teachers.

Contact Us:

We can be contacted by phone on 6142 2792 or email mfpcanteen@gmail.com.

Canteen and our school:

The canteen and the school work together to promote healthy eating messages to our students. The canteen is an active partner in many activities at school, for example the athletics carnival and special events such as the walk-a-thon and school disco. We encourage involvement from the students through the SRC and classroom based program.

Volunteer Help:

The canteen relies on our fabulous Parent Community. Our canteen can't run without volunteers; parents, carers and grandparents! If you're able to help out any amount of time, we would love to hear from you. Come and help us:
· Prepare things for a salad – slice tomato, grate carrot, shred lettuce.
· Make sandwiches.
· Pack (placing food items into the bags).
· Wash-up or clean.
Our children love seeing us in the canteen during the day. We find the canteen provides parents and carers a chance to meet others and form networks and friendships within the school community. Also, by volunteering in the canteen, you get a free lunch Please contact the canteen manager, by email or phone… Or just drop by!

Uniform Shop

Our School uniform shop is located in the Canteen and run by the Canteen/Uniform shop staff. We have a wide range at very competitive prices. Our quality is of a high standard and all profits from sales go back to our school. Please see our range in the stock brochure in the MFPS dropbox.

Face to Face hours for placing orders or looking at uniforms - Monday to Friday 8.40 - 9.15am. You can contact the uniform shop anytime by email mfpcanteen@gmail.com to ask any questions.

The Uniform Shop uses FlexiSchools for ordering, which is our preferred method and also the quickest way to place your orders. It saves the hassle of finding cash or sending larger amounts of money to school with your kids. Your uniform order will be delivered to your child in their classroom to bring home (unless alternate arrangements have been made with the Uniform Shop). If you are not using FlexiSchools to order, you can print off a copy of the order form and return it to school via the Canteen or Front Office in an envelope marked Uniform Shop.

At certain times of the year we place orders for upcoming Kindergarten students (term 3) and Year 6 shirts for students (end of term). You will be given notification via the Newsletter and order forms handed out when this occurs.

We also sell (when available) "preloved" uniforms. Please see us if you are interested in a secondhand item. If you have any "preloved" uniforms to donate, please drop them off at the Canteen as they will be greatly appreciated.
