Each government school has its own School Board. The Board formulates school policy within the framework established by the Department. In our primary school the Board members consist of:
- three elected parents, one of who is appointed School Board Chairperson
- two elected teachers from the school staff
- the school Principal
- a community representative nominee (optional)
The board's role is to assist in the management of the school by:
- approving educational policies
- approving financial expenditure
- assessing the school's needs in relation to the provision of buildings, equipment funds, and, where appropriate, making recommendations to the ACT Department of Education and Training
- developing relations between the school and the community.
