High School

Miles Franklin Primary School is a feeder primary school for Melba-Copland Secondary School (MCSS). A liaison and orientation program is run with MCSS throughout the year.

Homework

Study and research habits developed at primary school stand students in good stead for future studies. Students are not expected to learn new work at home. However, assignments requiring exploration, discovery, observing, recording and process thinking may be set.

Hours

Classes commence at 9.00am and conclude at 3.00pm. Lunch is from 11.10am - 11.50am. Recess is from 1.10 -1.40pm. In the first ten minutes before lunch and recess students eat with teacher supervision. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child/ren are collected from Preschool and Kindergarten by an authorised person. Kindergarten children are collected by the Out of Hours School Care Program where applicable. Parents are responsible for ensuring children from Year One to Year Six who are part of the Out of Hours School Care Program go there and that if children are being collected they go to the front of the school at 3.00pm to be collected. A teacher on duty is stationed there to assist where required. If a child is making their own way home, it is also the parent's responsibility to ensure they leave the school in a timely and safe manner.
